CiberLATAM, in affiliation with Whalemate, respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we process when you use the Site, for what purposes, with whom we share it, and what rights you have. By using the Site or creating an account, you accept the processing described here.

Controller

The controller of personal data associated with CiberLATAM is the Whalemate / CiberLATAM team. To exercise rights or raise privacy questions, contact us through the channels listed at the end of this policy.

Data we collect

• Account data: email, password (stored securely by the authentication provider), name or other fields you complete, and session identifiers.
• Newsletters and preferences: subscription email (with or without an account), language, countries of interest, newsletter types, and unsubscribe tokens.
• Product use: bookmarks, language preferences and, where applicable, minimal interaction signals needed to personalize the service.
• Technical data: approximate IP address, user-agent, pages visited, access timestamps, and cookies or similar technologies (see our cookie policy).
• Login-provider data (e.g. Google): identifier and email the provider shares with us when you choose to sign in with them.

Purposes of processing

We process data to: authenticate you and keep your session; deliver Site content and features (including full-body access after registration); send newsletters only if you opted in; remember language and preferences; improve the service and security; measure audience in aggregate; and comply with legal obligations or valid requests.

Legal basis

Depending on the case: performance of the service you request (account, newsletters), your consent (when we ask for it explicitly), legitimate interest in operating and improving a secure digital publication, and compliance with legal obligations.

Processors and third parties

We use providers that process data on our behalf or for Site functions, including: Supabase (authentication and database), site hosting (e.g. Netlify), transactional/marketing email (e.g. Loops or other newsletter senders), and analytics or tagging tools (e.g. Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics products if enabled). Each provider acts under its own terms and security measures. We do not sell your personal data.

Retention

We keep account data while the account is active and for any additional time needed for security, disputes, or legal obligations. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion, subject to minimal technical retention. Technical logs are kept for limited periods oriented to security and operations.

Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures (encryption in transit, access control, role segregation). No system is 100% secure; if you detect an incident that affects us, please notify us promptly.

Your rights

Under applicable law, you may request access, rectification, update, deletion, objection or restriction of processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on it. You may also unsubscribe from newsletters at any time. To exercise rights, contact the CiberLATAM / Whalemate team. You may lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in your jurisdiction.

Minors

The Site is not directed at children under 16 (or the minimum age set by your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor provided data to us, contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will publish the current version on this page with the last-updated date. We recommend reviewing it periodically.
